플라톤 정치철학에서 정의로운 국가를 위한 감정 시론 : 플라톤 감정 연구의 지형과 특징 그리고 방향
이 글은 플라톤 정치철학에서 정의로운 국가를 위한 감정의 역할과 의미를 찾기 위한 시론적 연구다. 이에 기존의 논의들을 개관하고 플라톤 감정연구에서 고려해야 할 특징을 감정의 필연성, 앎과 정의를 지향하는 감정, 감정의 이중성과 복잡성을 중심으로 살펴보았 다. 이를 염두에 두고 수치심과 분노, 그리고 두려움이라는 가장 원초적이면서도 다루기 어려운 감정들이 정의로운 국가를 위한 플라톤의 정치적 기획안에 안착해 있음을 개괄적으 로 보여주고자 했다. 이를 통해 플라톤의 감정은 이성에 의한 제어의 대상이 아니라 관리의 대상이라는 점을 확인한다.
The Emotion Design for the Just Community in Plato's Political Philosophy : Characteristics and List of Plato's Emotions
This article is intended to be a speculative work on the role and meaning of emotions for the just state in Plato's political philosophy. Accordingly, I summarize the existing discussions and examine the features of emotions that should be considered in the study of Platonic emotions, focusing on the following: ① the inevitability of emotions, ② emotions oriented toward knowledge and justice, and ③ the duality and complexity of emotions. With these features in mind, I comprehensively show that the most primitive and intractable emotions of shame, anger, and fear are anchored in Plato's political plan for a just community.
